5 June 2025 — US investigative agencies, such as the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service, have achieved a major success. They have shut down a darknet website named BidenCash. This website used to sell stolen credit cards and personal information of people. A press release from the Department of Justice informs In this operation, the authorities shut down 145 website domains and seized cryptocurrency worth more than $17 million (about Rs 140 crore).
Website selling stolen data
BidenCash was started in March 2022 and soon it became the largest website selling stolen data. More than 1.5 crore credit cards and other personal information were sold on it. This website had more than 1.17 lakh customers. These people used to pay with cryptocurrency so that their identity remains hidden.
To attract more people, this website leaked 33 lakh credit card information for free between October 2022 and February 2023. This was a marketing trick so that more people join the website. Because of this, this website came under the radar of investigating agencies.
Action taken together
Agencies of other countries along with the US also helped in this operation. 145 website domains were shut down. Now those who visit these sites see a government notice which states that the site has been seized.
Along with this, $17 million worth of cryptocurrency has also been seized. This includes $40,000 USDT (a digital currency), which is commonly used in the darknet.
Fight against cyber crime
This operation shows that the governments of the US and other countries are taking strict action against crimes committed on the darknet. The darknet is a place that is different from the normal internet and where illegal things happen such as buying and selling stolen data, drugs and counterfeit currency.
The FBI said, “If you think that your website is very safe or your identity will remain hidden, then it is your mistake. We will find you and punish you according to the law.”
Your security is important
Websites like BidenCash put the personal and banking data of many people at risk. This can lead to money theft, identity theft and other online crimes. Therefore, all people have been advised to:
- Check your bank account regularly
- Keep a strong password
- Use two-step security (2FA)
Banks and companies will also have to strengthen their security so that their data is not stolen.
What will happen next?
Although BidenCash has been shut down, experts believe that more such websites can be created soon. Things change quickly on the darknet and criminals can start new websites. But now governments and agencies have become more vigilant. They are moving forward to catch these crimes with blockchain tracking and international cooperation.
It is not yet clear whether anyone has been arrested in this operation or not. But after such a large-scale action, it is believed that cases may be registered against some people in the coming days.
