Ross was pardoned by former US President Donald Trump in January 2025. Since his release from prison, many people are helping him considering him an early supporter of Bitcoin. He has previously received donations of $270,000 in Bitcoin and $111,111 from crypto exchange Kraken. But this donation of 300 BTC is the largest so far.

Blockchain expert ZachXBT said that this bitcoin came through a mixing service called Jambler. This suggests that this money was probably not sent by Ross himself, as it came from old wallets that were active when Ross was in prison.
